Amelia's Super Fast Hypnobabies Home Birth

On March 16 and I spent most of the night watching movies (Bohemian Rhapsody and Bridesmaids), doing Hypnobabies, and dozing through strong and long birth waves but they were pretty spaced apart. At 6:10 am I decided to get my team together because I felt like I needed some support especially after I did a modified side-lying release for myself that was super intense and thought I should get up and move around. I texted my midwife Emme of Trillium Midwives and doula Lindsay of MamaAligned/One Strong Mama and woke my husband up.
He hopped in the shower then hooked up the hose for the birth tub and put some pots of water on to boil. Things started to get closer together. They had been 8-12 minutes apart most of the night then 7-8 when I texted my team and got closer and closer once I got up at 6:15. I went to the bathroom about 6:40 and felt like her head was in my birth canal and a little pushy.

I went in the kitchen where my husband was and told him to throw some pads on the bed because the tub wasn’t very full. It’s actually funny because I had been having a feeling when practicing my visualizations that I wouldn’t make it into the big tub this time. My Doula walked in at 6:45 and I told her I felt pushy. She came to help me and we went into the family room. My husband had actually put the pads upside down so I asked her to flip them over. She ran to do something in the other room and I took my pants off and climbed up on the bed since I could feel her coming.

6:58 my water broke and my body gave a good push. 7:01 her head was born into mine and my husband’s hands (I’ve caught four of our babies so not my first rodeo). Our midwife ran in at 7:03 as I could feel baby’s shoulders rotating. One more wave and her body was out at 7:05 into my hands. Our perfect little girl. I cradled her, laid down for a few minutes then sat up and then caught my placenta (third time I’ve done that). She started nursing just 13 minutes post-birth. You could tell she was ready to eat by all the feeding cues she was giving. We took a bath in the birth tub and met her siblings. It was all lovely and perfect and intense and amazing. This is my fourth Hypno-baby.
