So what is Hypnobabies class like?
Each week, we spend the first two+ hours of class teaching you everything you need to know to prepare for birth. We teach about nutrition, exercise, the stages of labor, choices during childbirth, how to be an informed consumer, and how you will be able to use all of your Hypnobabies tools during your birth, plus much more listed below! During the last half hour the instructor leads the students through a hypnosis script, which they will then take home and practice during the week.
During class you get to know other families who are also preparing for their births using Hypnobabies, and support people learn right along side the birthing person. Doulas and others who might be present at your birth are also invited to join us for class. We have six families maximum per class, so each instructor can be sure to provide all of our students with the attention they need, and everyone can get all of their questions answered!
In between classes, each family has "home play" to complete, which involves reading, exercises and hypnosis practice. Students can expect to spend about 30 minutes per day practicing their hypnosis, plus additional time each week to do the reading, finger drop practice, and exercises. Pregnant students also have a "Pregnancy Affirmations" track they listen to every day and students report loving it!
After the class ends, families continue to practice their hypnosis every day until the baby is born. This practice helps reinforce the tools that have been developed during class so they can experience an easier and more comfortable birth! Like training for a marathon, preparing for a positive, enjoyable birth takes time and dedication, but it is well worth it.
