New to the idea of Hypnobabies? Concerned about what you'll look or act like while using hypnosis for birth? Seeing is believe, so check out some of our favorite Hypnobabies birth videos.
The first video is a news story featuring our own HBTC instructor Lindsay McCoy:
Some Moms are pretty quiet while they birth, like Tanya's Home Birth and Missy's Hospital Birth:
by Anne Ferguson, Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis Instructor (HCHI)
The Hypnobabies Childbirth Hypnosis program is a childbirth education course that can be completed as a six-week classroom-based course or a six-week home study. We teach expectant parents and their birth partners how to use self-hypnosis techniques to have an easier and more comfortable birth without pain medication. Some students even have what they experience as a pain-free birth. This is fabulous, considering in our culture we hear over and over that birth is the "worst pain ever" and that "you should just get the epidural because you won't be able to give birth without one." Or even "just plan a c-section, it's easier."
And yet, sometimes Hypnobabies births go differently than planned, and to those families I want to say we still see you, we hear your struggles and we know, even if you don't yet, that your birth was still a success and you did the absolute best you could with the situation you faced.

I asked two HBTC Couples to share their experiences taking Hypnobabies class a second time for their second baby. To read more about why we recommend everyone repeat the class with subsequent pregnancies, read this article.
Update: May 2017: The live class materials received a major update in June of 2015. Anyone who took the class before then will notice quite a few wonderful changes if they take the class again now!
Mary and Willi, you guys took Hypnobabies in the spring of 2012 when you were preparing for the birth of your first baby. (Read Mary's first story here.) Why did you decide to take class again when you found out you were expecting #2 in early 2014?
I (Mary) know that I do better at sticking to a routine and doing my homework when I have a class to check in with, so felt that taking the course again would be a good way to keep myself accountable to doing the work that Hypnobabies requires to be successful. I also really enjoyed connecting with other parents-to-be the first time around and felt it would be nice to have that a second time as well. And, honestly, it was nice for my husband and I to have a little time away from our daughter each week for 6 weeks.

The Hypnobabies Twin Cities Instructors are passionate about birth, and we are passionate about couples being supported during their birth. In this article, we'd like to share the many ways we've seen doulas help couples through the journey of birth! You'll also enjoy reading quotes from local families about how they benefited from working with a doula.
The short answer is Yes! Students who come back to Hypnobabies for a second (or third or fourth!) time are lovingly called our "repeat offenders"! This post explains why we recommend that students repeat the entire course for a subsequent birth.
We don't offer refresher courses in Hypnobabies. We also don't suggest that couples refresh on their own from the classroom set of materials. Many hypno-doulas who've worked with repeat offenders who chose to 'refresh on their own' have found that couples didn't practice as well when left to their own schedule, as they do when they are in a live class. They also didn't BOTH refresh on the reading materials which teach the information needed to create informed choice and their birth preferences.
